TEMPERATURE AND WEATHER
One of the most important thing require to know about Kailash Manasarovar Yatra the temperature and weather conditions in Tibet is actually different from day time to night time during the various seasons of the year. Tibetan weather is not drastic as most of us think. Between the months of May to July the weather conditions are normally dry and sunny. In July and August the day temperatures is approx 20 degrees with rain. May, June and September are peak season for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra.

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS
Let we know about Tibet before you travel to Tibet, it is recommended to obtain a health certificate with you from a reputed doctor which mentions that one is fit to travel to high altitudes that means you are able to do Kailash Manasarovar Yatra at 4,590 metres (15,060 ft). Also all personal medication and a medical kit are important to be taken along. Some of the usual items to be including in the kit would be painkillers, antiseptic, some bandages and antibiotics related First-Aid.

ANTIBIOTICS (Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole - Bactrim DS and Septra DS - double strength (l60mg/ 800mgs). Antidiarrheals - Lomotil & Pepto - Bismol tablets and make sure you bring Charcoal tablets. Please see your doctor for more advice concerning antibiotics and antidiarrheals. (Please bring ankle high boots to avoid muscle sprain.)

FITNESS
Tibet is a high elevation area all of travellers have to be fit and healthy to sustain their tour without getting ill. There is a lot of walking besmeared and generally one has to climb up mountains at few tourist places. Exercise must to be fit and which is done before you begin your tour from your home destination so that there is not an unexpected change introduced to your body. ALTITUDE SICKNESS
Almost all pilgrims who travel to Tibet already experienced altitude sickness. Altitude Sickness affects less to those who are physically fit and have a good strength. The main characteristics of altitude sickness are matter of discommodity, breathlessness, poor sleeping patterns of limited capacity for physical exertion.

It is recommended to all of participants that people with heart problems should avoid travelling to such places.

Tips to Prevent Acute Mountain Sickness
should drink lots of water in Tibet is must as it will avoid dehydration and protect one from drastic climate.

About foods and eatables you should eat light food and eatables such as healthy things with high carbohydrates contained in it. When very tired do not try to climb further and take small breaks in between journey its mandatory. Avoid alcohol and smoking during your travel else you'll be a victim of dehydration and cold before the travel begins and while you are on tour.

Please note all arrangements of Tibet part are operated by China Tibet Tourism Bureau (CTTB), it’s a government Organization, and we have no control over the quality of the vehicles facilities only in Tibet. Kailash Manasarovar Yatra (Max Holidays India Pvt. Ltd.) reserves the right to change tour program without any prior notice, depending on the weather and road condition for your safety.

CURRENCY
Chinese Yuan is most usual currency during you tour in Tibet, however you can also carry US dollars it’s also widely accepted by various hotels and shops. However we suggest you to take your international currency exchanged into Chinese currency to avail best deals and have a convenient travel experience, Bank of China can help you in this. Credit cards are also accepted but not widely and ATM’s are also not easily findable.

CLOTHING
Clothing’s for both extremes of temperature and climate. During the driving to Mount Kailash, you can find warm inside the vehicles and there will be light clothing required, but as soon as you de-board your vehicle, warm clothing will be recommended to keep off the cold winds of the Tibetan Plateau. In the evening you will find generally cold and warm clothing will be recommended that you bring along the following clothings and accessories with you:

  • Light tennis shoes & light rubber sandal.

  • Large cotton or silk scarf-One
  • Warm gloves.

TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS
All of our travel arrangements are very genuine such as pick up from Kathmandu international airport on your arrival by our representative vehicle in Kathmandu airport will be a van or minibus depends on the group size. City tour of Kathmandu and also the transfer from Kathmandu to Tibet border and return will be on luxury deluxe buses Mini-bus.

All travel in Tibet will be in Luxury buses with up to 17 yatris in a bus or Land cruiser tours will be with 4 yatris in each vehicle as per the itinerary.

STAFF
Our highly experienced staff of Max Holidays will be responsible for all cooking, camping medical arrangements. OXYGEN
In case of emergency there is no need to worry we will be there with all our latest medical facilities such as oxygen cylinder with mask for each passenger and during the PARIKRAMA. A facility of oxygen is used only for emergency cases.

BRIEFING AND ORIENTATION
Our company’s representative will give briefing on the first day of your arrival in Kathmandu, all your Yatra details with your all accommodation / guest house / tent details and what are the transportation we will be used in your journey to mount Kailash. It is necessary to be attending by all of participants.

ACCOMODATION
We will offer you hotel stay in Kathmandu (Nepal) it will be on twin sharing basis. All Your transport and hotel accommodations will be share with you a few weeks before the start of Yatra. Stay in these hotels will be in Deluxe Twin sharing rooms on Full Board basis (includes all meals).

In Tatopani (Tibet Border) , rooms will be of budget nature .

Accommodation in Tibet part will be in dormitories and 2 to 4 yatris will be assigned in one room with cots and beds. In extreme circumstances if such facilities or amenities are unavailable we will offer you safe tented accommodation.

BATHS AND TOILETS IN TIBET
Most of the hotel in Tibet will only offer Baths and toiletries on sharing with running water. Toilets will be Indian style and all yatris should make your mind set accordingly. During Kailash Parikrama and at Manasarovar where closed toilets are not available the sherpas will setup toilet tents which will be of very basic nature but providing privacy. In juxtaposition most pilgrims will prefer to use the open toilets.

VISAS AND DOCUMENTATION
A valid passport you must have with validity for at least 6 months. We will derive your visa and the permit for enter in Tibet and we need your booking for Kailash Manasarovar Yatra (duly field). Two passport size photographs are also required. Additionally, you must allow a minimum of 15 full working days in Kathmandu for the visa. Getting a visa for Tibet on the Indian passport is guaranteed once the tour is booked. We need your original documents such as Booking form and passport at least 15 days prior from the departure date.

GUIDE / ESCORT
In Tibet there are local English speaking guides available and are normally well aware of the tourist places there.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography is one of the best things to capture the beauty of Tibet and mount Kailash is very interesting place in Tibet as one has some beautiful natural beauty. One will face a bit of precautions while photography in Tibet. It’s our suggestion that do not click pictures of anyone there without their permission as this may offend them. Photography during prayers are taking place should be avoided, especially with cameras that have flash. In Monasteries there might be a suggestive fee charged for click photographs, so please check with the people around and then shoot. On the time of trekking take necessary technical precautions for cameras and there lens as they might need to be conserved as per climate situation.

INSURANCE
We are highly recommended you to make travel insurance from your journey against sickness, EMERGENCY RESCUE, accident hospitalization, etc. Please note if any kind of damage or extra expenses that may arise mishaps and the loss of their belongings during the pilgrimage we are not liable and responsible.

COMMUNICATION
Please note and inform your all family members and relatives that Darchen Is the last place to make any international calls, Tibet. However, please be informed that it may be difficult at times to get in touch with your family members. If any urgent message has to be sent to any of the participants, then please contact us at the hotel address in Kathmandu.

Peak Season / Best time to visit Kailash Manasarovar
Part of Tibet Kailash Manasarovar is generally cool during nights and warm in the days.

  • Summers (May, June, July and August) are very pleasant with moderate climate, with average around 15°C. Summers are beat time for all outdoor activities, temple visit and dip in holy water of the Lake Manasarovar and also for visiting nearby attractions.
  • Winters (December to April) are chilly days with average minimum touching near 5°C. Minimum can touch sub zero levels to -15°C. Snow falls often during winters.
  • The best season to visit Kailash Manasarovar is from May to November.
  • May to November offers cool and pleasant climate and the right period to spend meditation and also good for visiting temples in and around.
  • December to April is snow bound and chilly. Tourists typically keep off chilly snow bound days in winters.
