Overview

The distinctive town of Ranakpur in Rajasthan is a revered site of the Jain community. The town is renowned for its magnificent temples that date back to 1439 AD. The town got its name from its beloved ruler Rana Kumbha, who donated land to build the temples. The majestic temple complex is built over an area of 40,000 sq. ft. and is nestled on top of some 1444 pillars! The mighty Aravalli range offers a grand backdrop amidst lush green foliage juxtaposed against the pristine white Jain temples. Nearby Surya Narayan temple is another site worth visiting. The temple is known for its famous carving of the sun god riding atop a chariot pulled by seven horses. The nearest place for shopping could be Udaipur. Expect pure vegetarian Rajasthani food only.

By road: An excellent road network links Ranakpur with Udaipur, Jaipur and several other nearby places.

By rail: Falna (FA) is the nearest railhead, connected to the district stations, however Udaipur train station (UDZ) is the nearest major railway station, connected to Delhi, Jaipur & other cities of Rajasthan by regular train services.

By air: The nearest airport is Udaipur Dabok Airport (UDR) at a distance of 80 km away.
