The ‘Holy City’ of Varanasi is one of the most sacred destinations for Hindus in India. Located on the banks of Ganges (which has been designated the status of ‘Mother’). Varanasi attracts numerous pilgrims throughout the year. Its origin dates back to several centuries and infact, a renowned author has even claimed that the origin of this city defeats the origin of history, tradition and legend, both individually and put together. Today, the city has developed itself to keep pace with the modern trends, though it has by no means lost touch with the traditions and customs that have given it a distinct identity.
