Shirdi Sai Baba Tour !!!Puttaparthi is located south-west of Andhra Pradesh, at a distance of 400 Kms from Hyderabad. Puttaparthi the small village in Ananthapur district, is surrounded by the arid and rocky hills of Karnataka . Puttaparathi is famous for its, Sathya Sai Baba Mandir.Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is considered as a living God by millions of people. The Sathya Sai Baba temple is one of the most popular religious destinations in the world. A large number of tourists from the country and abroad visit Puttaparthi, to get a glimpse of Sathya Sai Baba. It is said that the present Sai Baba is the reincarnation of the Sai Baba of Shirdi, former Sai Baba of Maharashtra. The real name of Sai Baba is 'Satyanarayana Raju' and he was born on November 23, 1926, at Puttaparthi. Sai Baba has started to show unusual talents, purity and compassion since his early age.The disciples of Sai Baba have built an ashram called as 'Prasanthi Nilayam'which means ' the abode of peace.' The ashram inaugurated in 1950 attracts lots of devotees all through the year. The ashram has a large complex with thousands of rooms, canteens, shops, a museum and library. The complex houses a big assembly hall, where Sai Baba comes out twice in a day. The income of the ashram is used for a number of public utility services.

Attractions in and around Puttaparthi :
There are not much attractions in Puttaparthi, the ashram is the centre of attraction for tourists. These are the places of interest inside the ashram.

Prasanthi Mandir !!!The Museum - The museum is situated on the nearby hillock. The museum has the collection of models of famous temples, that include the Golden temple of Amritsar and the Mecca mosque. The museum depicts the life story of Satya Sai Baba beginning from his birth to the time when he attained 'Nirvana.' The museum remains open between 10:00 AM and 12 noon daily.

Prasanthi Mandir - The temple built in 1949 is the centre of Prasanthi Nilayam. It is a prayer hall, in which Omkar Suprabhatam (at dawn), Bhajans and other spiritual activities take place.

Ganesh Mandir - Ganesh Mandir is located at the entrance of Prasanthi Nilayam.

Subramanya Mindir - Built in 1977, the mandir is situated to the south of Ganesh Mandir.

Gayathri Mandir - The mandir is situated opposite to the 'Seva Dal' block. It is dedicated to the five faced Goddess, Gayathri, the mother of the Vedas.

Sai Kulwant Hall The hall has a seating capacityof around 20,000. At this place daily darshan of Baba takes place in which divine discourses are delivered. On the northern side entrance to the hall,the nicely carved marble icons of Sri Rama, Sita, Laxmana and Hanuman are present.

Satya Sai Baba Tour in Puttaparthi !!!Sarva Dharma Stupa - The 50 feet high stupa was built in November 1975, is located on the south of Poorna Chandra Auditorium. The pillar was built on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the advent of the Avatar, and the World conference of the Sri Satya Sai Seva organization.

Meditation Tree - The banyan tree planted by Bhagwan has a metal plate, with inscription of Divine Sankalpa embedded by him at the roots in 1950.

Sathyabhama Temple - The temple lies on the other side of the road, is exclusively established for Sathyabhama. Sathyabhama is commonly known as the consort of Lord Krishna, so this is the only temple in the world dedicated to Sathyabhama.

Sri Raju Kalyana Mandapam - Theold temple was constructed in 1945. Bhagwan built a new temple in 1950,since then the old temple has been used Kalyana Mandapam (marriage hall).

Anjaneya (Hanuman) Swamy Temple - The temple stands between Kalyana Mandapam and the Sathyabhama temple. At the entrance of the temple, the idol of Lord Siva as Lingam, brought by Bhagawan from Kasim, is installed.

Samadhi - This is the Samadhi of Bhabwan's parents which is located in the Samadhi Road.
Every year during Eswaramma Day, on 6th of May, Bhajans are conducted here and hundreds of poor people are fed.

Sai Gita -The Elephant - Sai Gita is living elephant residing in the temple. It is considered auspicious as a symbol for Ganesh-the remover of obstacles.

Puttaparthi is a small village, the nearest town is Dharmavaram which is well connected with road and rail links.

» Air - Indian Airlines operate biweekly flight between Mumbai and Prasanthi Nilayam on Wednesdays and Sundays. The Bangalore (250 Kms) and Tirupati (300 Kms) are nearest airports. Regular flights are available from these airports to rest of the country. From here one has to take the road journey.

Air Travels !!!» Rail - The nearest railway station is Dharmavaram(30 Kms), which is well connected to Puttaparthi by bus. The trains from Bangalore and Hyderabad is available for Dharmavaram.

» Road - The nearest town is Dharmavaram (30 Kms),which is connected to Puttaparthi. Most people come down to Puttaparthi by road. There are buses from Bangalore and Chennai. Regular State buses from Hyderabad and major towns of Andhra Pradesh are available.

Accommodation :
Prasanthi Nilayam ashram offers cottages and dormitories for tourists. In addition there are a number of small hotels that offers accommodation facility at Puttaparthi. Hotel Sai Renaissance and Sai Towers are the famous hotels of Puttaparthi.

Best Time to Visit :
The climate of Puttaparthi changes time-to-time. The winters are very cold,the temperature in summers goes high. The rainy reason witness heavy rainfall. One can visit the place any time in the year but the best time is October to March.
