Imphal
The capital of Manipur, Imphal is a bustling mini metropolis situated at a height of 790M above sea level. Some of the places to be visited are:
Shree Govindajee Temple - A historic Vaishnavitecentre, adjoining the Royal palace of Manipur's former Maharajas, the Govindajee temple is a simple yet beautiful structure. Twin domes, a paved courtyard, and a large raised congreation hall form a perfect backdrop forpriests who descend the steps, to accept offering from devotees in the courtyard. The shrines of Krishna and Balarama and Jagannath flank the two sides of the presiding deity.
War Cemeteries - Commemorating the memories of the British and Indian soldiers who died during the Second World War, these cemeteries are managed by the Common wealth War Graves Commission. Serene and well maintained, the graves carry little stoje markers and bronze plaques recording the sacrifice of those gallant soldiers.
Moirang :
45 kms from Imphal , the town is one of the main centres of early Meiteifolk culture with the ancient temple of the pre-hindu deity Lord Tangjing,situated here. In the month of May, men and women, dressed in colorful traditional costumes sing and dance in honour of the Lord at the Moriang "Lai Haroba" which is a ritual dance festival held every year.
The town also has a special place in the history of the Indian Freedom Struggle. It was at Moirang that the flag of the Indian National Army was first unfurled on April 14, 1944. The INA Museum containing letters,photographs, bages of ranks and other memorabilia reminds the visitor of the noble sacrifices made by the INA under the charismatic leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Loktak Lake & Sendra Island :
48kms, from Imphal, is the largest fresh water lake in the North Eastregion, a verktable miniature inland sea. From the Tourist Bunglow set a topSendra Island, visitors get a birds eye view of life on the lake-small islands that are actually floating weed on which live the Lake people, the shimmering blue waters of the Lake, laby inthine boat routes and colourful water plants. The Sendra Tourist Home with an attached Cafeteria in the middle of the lake is an ideal tourist spot, Boating and other water sports are being introduced here.

Keibul Lamjao National Park :
The only floating National Park in the world, on the Loktak Lake is the last natural habitat of "Sangai" the dancing deer of Manipur. A glimpse of the deer in this unique wetl and ecosystem is a must for any wildlife entussiast. Other wildlife, Hog Deer, Otter and a host of waterfowls and migratory birds can also be sighted during November to March. TheForest Department maintains watch towers and two rest houses within the park.
Ukhrul :
83 km to the east of Imphal, this District Headquarters of Manipur East is the highest hill station of the State. A centre of the colorful warriortribe Tangkhul Nagas, it is well developed and famous for a peculiar type of land-lily, the Siroi, grown on the Siroi hills. Siroi Hills and Khangkhui Lime Caves are interesting places for excursions. Ukhrul bears a gay and festive appearance during Christmas.
