Konark has a moderate temperature throughout the year. Temperature in the summer months touches a high of 35°C and a low of 23°C,respectively. Winter months are relatively cold with a maximum and minimum temperature of 27°C and 16°C, respectively.

Konark hosts a dance festival annually in the month of December known as,the Konark Dance Festival. Held in an open-air theatre, and very close to the Sun Temple, which makes an excellent backdrop to the Festival, the dance Festival of Konark is a must see event of Konark. The festival with the performances by the eminent classical dancers of India is a virtual entertainment to the lovers of the classical art forms of dance and music,coming from across the globe. The various dance forms like Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri, Kathak and Chhow are performed at the same stage.
In addition to the Dance festival, Konark is also host to the Sun Festival (Magha Saptami). The festival derives its name from the fact that it is celebrated on the seventh day (saptami) of the bright half of the month of Magha (January/February). During this festival, devotees take holy bath inthe sea before the sunrise. After the holy dip the pilgrims worship Lord Surya at the temple.

» Air - Konark does not have an airport and the nearest airports are at Bhubaneswar 65 km away.
»Rail - The railheads nearest to Konark are again at Puri and Bhubaneswar. These two stations are connected to all the major cities in India through long-distance trains.
» Road - Konark is well connected with other parts of the country through a good network of roads. Travelers can make use of taxis, private cars, and mini buses to move around the city and to reach the Sun Temple.
