About Benaulim Beach :
Located in southern Goa, Benaulim Beach is 41 kms away from the capital city of Panjim. A legend is associated with the beach which has made it immensely popular and significant. It is said that this is the spot where the very famous Parshuram's arrow landed when he fired it into the sea,thereby resulting into the creation of Goa. The beach, which is referred to as the Gasper Dias has attracted tourists from far off who come here in large numbers to relax in the pristine white sands, have some fun watching and participating in the entertainment activities.
Best Time to visit :
Baga beach is worth visiting any time during the year, however, heavy rainfall between June to October can dampen the spirits of tourists who want to enjoy completely. So, the best time for the tourists to visit the beach is during the months of November to February.
Activities on the Beach :
Benaulim beach is quieter than the other beaches of Goa and offers abundant opportunity to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Tourists can lay back on the sand and feel the coolness that floats in the air. It is also extremely pleasurable for tourists to simply walk on the beach and introspect for a while. There are hawkers and vendors on the beach, but not much crowd to disturb you. Even during the night, tourists can enjoy a privacy they have been wanting for a long time now. A beautiful candle night dinner is an excellent option.
Fishing can be enjoyed by those interested while swimming is also an option for tourists. The water in Benaulim beach is considered much safer for swimming, though it is advisable for tourists to enquire before they decide to take a plunge.
The beach is also the host for weekly Beach Bonanza fair commencing from mid April. Visitors can rejoice in the festivity of the bonanza by participating. Music, dance and other entertainment source keep the visitors in high spirits throughout.
Added Attractions :
Benaulim beach is located close to the Colva beach (distance in between is 2 kms) as such a visit to the former beach also ensures a visit to the latter one. The village that surrounds the beach is well known for its handicraft items.
Adorning a hill, little beyond the village that surrounds the beach, is the church of St John the Baptist. The church is worth visiting by the tourists especially during the on set of monsoons when the feast of St John the Baptist is organised. The feast honours the saint's movement in his mother'swomb when Mother Mary (Jesus mother) visited him. To pay their respect tothe saint, many young men of the village jump in the village well.
Another attraction for tourists visiting Benaulim beach is the bull fight.These fights take place outside the village in an old rice field with Konkani music playing in the background. Tourists can enjoy a bull fight that begins from early October to late May. The rice fields are not barricaded during the fight as such the tourists should be a little alert.

» Air - The closest airport is the Dabolim airport which is at a distance of 29 kms from Panjim and 68 kms from Colva.
» Rail - Karmali Railway station provides the closest rail links. Karmali is 11 kms from Panaji and 39 kms from Colva.
» Road - Regular buses connect Benaulim to Margao,Colva, Varca, Cavelossim and Mobor at every thirty minutes.
